Open Source Initiative

Open Source is a technology movement, which implements principles of openness, sharing, and freedom in software use, modification, or distribution. It is an organization dedicated to promoting open source software. The organization was prompted by Netscape Communications Corporation publishing the source code for its flagship Netscape Communicator product. OSI is comprised of board members who make up its directorship and is not a membership organization. Some examples of that are: FireFox, Linux, Apache.. OSI is very important to current technology and that’s why it has a large play in the current market.
